ED/Stroke Nurse Educator

Northern NYC

You know the look. That moment when a new nurse freezes because they’re not sure if that’s V-Tach or just artifact. If your first instinct is to step in and teach, guide, and troubleshoot on the fly, then you might be exactly who our client needs.

Polaris Placement is partnering with a respected hospital in northern NYC to find a real-deal Emergency Department Nurse Educator — the kind who teaches in the thick of it, not from behind a desk.

This role is tailor-made for a seasoned ED nurse who thrives on mentoring others while juggling triage, EPIC training, and stroke alerts — and who still finds time to check the new grad’s notes before they hit “submit.”

The Nurse Educator will support a growing Nurse Residency Program, guide real-time education at the bedside, and work in a hospital that’s actively building a Shared Governance structure as part of its Pathway to Excellence journey.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide real-time, bedside coaching to ED RNs (and occasionally student nurses)
  • Lead education on Stroke Program protocols — this is a certified center, and it matters
  • Train on ESI triage, EPIC charting, and evidence-based updates
  • Collaborate with ED leadership to onboard and support new nurses
  • Monday–Friday schedule with some flexibility for early/late/weekend hours

What You Bring

  • NYS RN and BSN required, Master’s preferred (or within 3 years)
  • CEN preferred (or get it within 6 months — it’s worth it)
  • Solid experience with stroke programs, EPIC, and teaching ESI triage
  • You’ve got ENA membership, EMTALA fluency, and shared governance familiarity
  • You’re the kind of communicator who knows when to encourage and when to hold accountable
