If you’re the kind of Nursing Quality leader who automatically notices trends, connects the dots before others see the picture, and can turn “we’ve always done it this way” into “actually, here’s a better way,” this role was built for you. As the Director of Nursing Quality, you’ll help nurse leaders and frontline teams translate Quality and CQI principles into meaningful, sustainable improvements — the kind that elevate practice, strengthen patient safety, and keep accreditation surveys from feeling like controlled chaos.
About the Health System
You’ll be joining a long-standing, mission-driven safety-net health system serving one of the borough’s most vibrant and diverse communities. This is a place where equity isn’t just an initiative — it’s the daily reality — and where continuous improvement is part of the culture because the community deserves nothing less. The teams here care deeply about their patients, their colleagues, and the work, and they value leaders who bring clarity, collaboration, and follow-through.
What You’ll Be Doing
This role blends coaching, systems thinking, and just the right amount of diplomacy. You’ll partner with nursing leaders, interdepartmental teams, and frontline staff to reinforce evidence-based quality practices aligned with:
- ANA Standards of Clinical Practice
- Joint Commission standards
- National Patient Safety Goals
- DOH regulations
- Patient/Family-Centered Care principles
- Institutional policies and procedures
Your everyday work might include:
- Guiding managers in identifying meaningful quality opportunities — not just the loudest issues
- Translating data, dashboards, and audit findings into clear, actionable improvement plans
- Supporting teams through sustainable change management (and helping keep morale up through the tougher shifts)
- Ensuring patient safety and quality remain visible, measurable, and truly embedded in daily practice
- Acting as the calm, knowledgeable presence when escalations arise and cross-department collaboration is needed
In short: You will be the steady, insightful voice that helps everyone stay aligned on what excellent care looks like — and how to get there.
