General Pediatrician

NEw york city

Our client, a nationally recognized academic medical center running a network of FQHCs in the New York City area, has an opening for a General Pediatrician who actually wants to practice pediatrics — full panel, full scope, not fifteen-minute well-checks stacked to the ceiling.

The setting is community health, which means a genuinely diverse patient panel with real developmental, behavioral, and preventive care needs — this isn’t a boutique concierge practice with a padded well-visit schedule.

You’ll do the actual work of general peds: growth and development, immunizations, the occasional car-seat-safety conversation, and knowing when a kid needs to go up the referral chain instead of just getting reassured and sent home.

New grads are genuinely welcome here — this is a place to build your clinical instincts with real backup from a large team of experienced colleagues, not get thrown into a solo panel on week one.

And you’ll have colleagues across general medicine, behavioral health, and specialty care who actually pick up the phone when you send a referral.

Key Responsibilities

Full-scope general pediatric primary care: well-child visits from birth through adolescence, same-day sick visits, developmental and behavioral screening, immunization administration and catch-up scheduling, and growth/nutrition monitoring that treats social determinants of health as clinical information, not a footnote.

Expect WIC referrals, lead screening, school and camp forms, and coordination with behavioral health and specialty partners as part of routine practice — not exceptions to it.

Documentation expectations are what you’d expect from an academic health system: complete, timely charting in the EMR and encounter documentation that doesn’t create downstream headaches.

But here’s the good news! They have an amazing real-time dictation software agent that makes this a breeze.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, with two evening sessions a week (11–7 or 12–8) so you can finally make it to that morning yoga class…

Some Saturdays are part of the rotation. But if you work one, you get the preceding Friday off.

Required Qualifications
• MD or DO with board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics
• Active or eligible New York State medical license
• Comfort managing a full-scope pediatric panel, birth through 18
• New graduates welcome — residency training is sufficient, no prior attending experience required

Preferred Qualifications
• Primary care or FQHC/community health experience (private practice background also welcome)
• Spanish fluency, given the patient population served, helps though they have robust translation services.

Compensation / Benefits
Compensation is competitive and will be discussed during the search process. Benefits are comprehensive and in line with what you’d expect from a major regional academic medical system.
