Overview
A respected safety-net health system in New York City is seeking an OB Hospitalist to join a well-supported, team-oriented Labor & Delivery unit serving a diverse and dynamic patient population.
This is a role built for physicians who enjoy being in the hospital, value teamwork, and want a predictable, shift-based schedule—without sacrificing clinical variety or support.
The Role
You’ll provide primary coverage for Labor & Delivery across two 24-hour shifts per week, with limited OB-related ED responsibilities.
The unit sees approximately 1,500 deliveries annually, offering a steady mix of routine vaginal deliveries and C-sections. While most cases are bread-and-butter obstetrics, you’ll have access to additional expertise when needed—without feeling like you’re on an island.
What Makes This Different
This isn’t a “figure it out yourself” hospitalist role.
The structure is designed to ensure you always have the right level of support without unnecessary layers or delays.
You’ll be supported by a highly functional, in-house team that includes four OB/GYN residents, a Certified Nurse Midwife, and a dedicated OB anesthesiologist, all working alongside you on-site. Plus an MFM specialist as well as an OB Attending physician for backup when higher-risk situations arise.
It’s a setup that allows you to focus on patient care while knowing experienced backup is always within reach.
You’ll also play an active role in the hospital’s hemorrhage response team, contributing to a coordinated, protocol-driven approach to obstetric emergencies. This is an environment where systems are in place, people know their roles, and you’re part of a team that shows up prepared.
