Primary Care Endocrinologist – Academic Opportunity

Bronx ny

About the Health System

This respected, mission-driven teaching health system in the Bronx serves one of New York City’s most diverse and clinically interesting patient populations. With established residency programs, academic affiliations, and a growing emphasis on specialty development and quality improvement, it offers early-career physicians meaningful responsibility with strong institutional support. For physicians who want both real-world pathology and academic credibility, this is a place to build a career—not just hold a job.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Primary Care Endocrinologist to join a collegial team of three experienced Endocrinologists—each with 10+ years in practice—who genuinely enjoy mentoring and collaborating.

This is general adult endocrinology, split between:

  • Ambulatory Care Network clinics
  • Inpatient consult service (approximately 3–5 consults per day)

Your inpatient volume is steady but reasonable. No endocrine emergencies at 3am unless someone truly ignored the insulin drip protocol.

Schedule

Monday thru Friday, 9 to 5.

  • Very light call by phone-only shared among four Endocrinologists. In practice: ~2–3 quick evaluation calls per week

This is a civilized call schedule. No overnight admissions marathons.

Clinical Volume

You’ll ramp up gradually:

  • Initial expectation: 10–12 patients per day
(With additional time built in for new consults and complex metabolic cases.)
  • Long-term expectation: 15–20 patients per day
In line with your endocrine colleagues.

Busy enough to stay sharp. Structured enough to avoid burnout.

Why This Role Stands Out

Mentorship Without Micromanagement

You will join three senior Endocrinologists, all with more than a decade of experience.
They’ve managed brittle diabetes, refractory thyroid cases, adrenal curveballs, and the occasional consult that makes you re-open your fellowship notes.

For a new graduate, this is a built-in advisory board. For a physician a few years out, this is collaborative depth without hierarchy.

Academic & Leadership Opportunities

Option for a prestigious academic appointment plus you can be active in Quality Improvement initiatives, participation in Residency training and mentorship Opportunity to shape endocrine protocols and clinical pathways.

If you enjoy teaching, refining care models, or improving glycemic control metrics across systems—you’ll have space to do it.

Compensation & Benefits

  • New graduates: Approximately $300,000 first year
  • 2–3 years post-Fellowship: Higher earning potential
  • Competitive benefits package, loan repayment eligible plus H1B Visa sponsorship available.

Candidate Profile

  • Board Eligible/Board Certified in Endocrinology
  • Interest in general adult endocrinology
  • Comfortable with inpatient consults (3–5 daily average)
  • Collaborative and academically inclined mindset

New graduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
